Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh! Happy St. Patrick’s day to all of you!
I think I have made it clear the ways in which the Irish language and culture have transformed my life. I share aspects of the language and my journey with it because I want to give more people the opportunity to be impacted by this language in the same way I have.
When I started this blog, I hoped people would read my words. I hoped I could help other language learners feel less alone.
But I never expected that I would be people’s first contact with the language. And never in a million years did I expect that I would get messages from people who decided to learn the language because of my story.
I put a significant amount of my time and energy into writing these posts for all of you, and that is the greatest payoff I could receive for my effort.
I also want to take a moment to acknowledge all of you who have chosen to support me in any way at all, even as a free subscriber. In August 2024, I made the decision to create a new life for myself. A life built on my passions and joys.
I have written about the pressure I put on myself during the first year of my Irish language journey because I needed to prove to myself that I was capable of speaking Irish some day. At times, I have put that same pressure on myself as I create this new life. I have more confidence than ever before, but there are still times I feel I need to push to the next level just to trust I’m on the right path to where I want to end up.
Every new subscriber, every like, every comment, every donation and paid subscription acts as signpost, signaling to me that I am on that path. I am going the right way. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go leir - Thank you all so very much.
I hope you all have an incredible St. Patrick’s Day and know how much each of you mean to me on this journey.
Sláinte - Cheers,
Briana
Quick housekeeping note:
For those who don’t know, I have been posting this month, sharing my regular content along with content to help my paying subscribers learn Irish! Those detailed guides on how to learn and study the Irish language will remain available to all current and future paid subscribers.
As a result, I’m taking a second to catch my breath and get back to creating quality, bilingual content for you all twice a week. There will be no post on Wednesday, but there will be a post in English on Saturday about everyone’s favorite owl, so be sure to check that out!
Next week, we’ll return to our regularly scheduled content!
